Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Free - Resume helps you write resumes and cover letters. To do that, it stores the information you type in. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, where it goes, and the choices you have. We follow the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).

Who we are

Free - Resume is run by the Free - Resume team. We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website. For any privacy question or request, email ckmusngi@gmail.com.

What we collect

Your account

  • Email address, used to sign in and to send you account emails such as password resets.
  • Password. It is stored by our database provider as a one-way, scrambled code (a hash). Nobody, including us, can read your actual password.

Your resumes and cover letters

Everything you type into a document, which may include:

  • Your name, job title, email, phone number, address or city, website and LinkedIn profile
  • Your photo, if you add one
  • Work history, education, skills, certifications and other resume sections
  • In the bio-data template: date and place of birth, age, sex, civil status, religion, citizenship, height, weight, and your parents’ names and occupations
  • Names and contact details of your character references
Sensitive information. Details such as your age or birth date, civil status, religion, and education are treated as sensitive personal information under the Data Privacy Act. You decide whether to include them, and we only store them so they appear on your document. If you list other people (for example, character references), please make sure they agree to be included.

Technical information

  • Server logs: our database and hosting providers automatically record basic request details, such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of the request, to keep the service secure and working.
  • Live visitor count: while the site is open, your browser joins an anonymous counter. It uses a random ID (or a scrambled version of your account ID) and no name or email.

We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies of our own, and we never sell your information. See the Cookie Policy for what is stored in your browser.

Why we use it

  • To create your account and let you sign in
  • To save your documents and sync them across your devices
  • To show your documents in the editor and create your PDF
  • To send account emails you ask for, such as password resets
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems

We process this information because you asked us to provide the service (by creating an account), and with your consent, which you give when you sign up and when you choose to enter information into your documents. You can withdraw your consent any time by deleting your documents or your account.

Where your information is stored

  • On our servers: your account and documents are stored with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, on servers in Singapore. This means your information is transferred outside the Philippines.
  • In your browser: a copy of your documents is kept in your browser’s local storage, so the editor is fast and works offline. Your sign-in session is stored there too. Signing out does not delete this copy; deleting your account does.
  • Guest mode: if you continue as a guest, your documents are stored only in your browser and never sent to our servers. They are deleted automatically 24 hours after you create them, unless you create an account and choose to add them to it.
  • PDFs are created in your browser and downloaded straight to your device. They are not uploaded anywhere.

Who we share it with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We only use these service providers to run the website:

  • Supabase: stores your account and documents, and handles sign-in.
  • Our web hosting provider: delivers the website to your browser and keeps basic server logs.
  • Google Fonts: provides the fonts used in your resume. Your browser downloads them directly from Google, which receives your IP address.
  • Buy Me a Coffee: the support button is loaded from their servers. If you open their support panel, Buy Me a Coffee and its payment processor (Stripe) set their own cookies and load their own analytics, and their privacy policies apply. See the Cookie Policy.

Share links: if you use Export → Share link, the whole document is contained in the link itself. Anyone you send it to can see the document. Only share it with people you trust.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.

How long we keep it

  • Your documents are kept until you delete them. Deleted documents are removed from our database right away.
  • Guest documents are deleted from your browser 24 hours after you create them.
  • Your account is kept until you delete it. Deleting your account permanently removes your email, password, and all of your documents.
  • Server logs are kept by our providers for a limited time, according to their own policies.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Be informed about how your information is used. That’s what this page is for.
  • Access your information: it’s all visible in your dashboard and editor.
  • Correct it: edit any document at any time.
  • Get a copy (data portability): download all your documents from your Profile page, or use Export → JSON backup or Download PDF on any document.
  • Erase it: delete any document from your dashboard, or delete your whole account from your Profile page (your initial in the top-right corner → Profile → Delete account).
  • Object to or withdraw consent for processing, by deleting your information or contacting us.
  • Complain: if you believe your rights were violated, you can contact us, or file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.

For anything you can’t do yourself in the app, email ckmusngi@gmail.com. We’ll reply as soon as we can, and may ask you to confirm the request from your account’s email address.

How we protect it

  • All connections to the website and our database are encrypted (HTTPS).
  • Database security rules make sure each account can only read and change its own documents.
  • Passwords are stored as one-way hashes.

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach affecting your personal information happens, we will notify you and the National Privacy Commission as the law requires.

Children

Free - Resume is meant for job seekers and students. If you are under 18, please use it with the permission of a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For important changes, we will also let you know in the app or by email.
